University Technical Colleges are a new concept in education. They offer 14-19 year olds the opportunity to study at specialist centres of excellence, equipped to the highest standards and sponsored by universities and local, regional and multinational employers - offering clear progression routes into University and employment. Our vision is to give students an excellent academic and work related curriculum. The University Technical College curriculum will be enriched by real work environments, equipped to industry standard and following high status academic GCSE and A-level qualifications, and professionally recognised courses required by leading employers. We have brought together local, national and multinational companies to provide young people with an exciting educational offer that will enable them to gain the very best academic qualifications but also to acquire the work-related qualities demanded by the business community. These partners will provide challenging and relevant work experience and there will be an emphasis on learning outside the classroom and in real-life situations. Specialising in process engineering, environmental technologies and business enterprise students leaving the University Technical College will have the very best academic qualifications and work-related qualities demanded by employers.
