William & Mary Mock Trial

The William & Mary Mock Trial team selects around 10-12 students each year from a pool of 70-80 incoming undergraduates who try out for the team. These students are then coached by William & Mary law students as well as attorneys to present both the prosecution and defense side of a case that is annually posted by the American Mock Trial Association. The team travels across the East Coast and Midwest to perform in various Invitationals, Regionals, Open Round Championship competitions, and the National Championship competition. Ultimately, undergraduates learn how to apply the federal rules of evidence, deliver direct and cross examinations, perform opening and closing statements and think critically about legal questions.
