Windsor Surgical Centre

Windsor Surgical Centre is the first of its kind and the largest outpatient facility in Ontario. This 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility boasts four operating theatres, fifteen pre and post operative bays and a dedicated laser suite. Windsor Surgical Centre is an independent healthcare facility that was developed to support and partner with Windsor Regional Hospital for the purpose of increasing access to cataract and retina surgeries for the community of Windsor-Essex. During the pandemic, Windsor Surgical Centre partnered to develop a strategy that would liberate hospital resources and clear the back log of elective procedures, specifically cataracts. As a result of the centre’s operating efficiencies, patient wait times have been significantly reduced. The attractive location provides free parking and a comfortable waiting area for caregivers. Patients can access OHIP-funded surgery, just as if they were in a hospital setting. Windsor Surgical Centre has provided an impressive precedent that other regions are replicating, and the model is currently being used in alignment with the cataract programs for the hospitals located in other regions of Ontario.
