Founded in 1976, Wine Spectator is the world’s most influential source of wine information, both in print and on the Internet. Wine Spectator editors review more than 11,000 wines each year in blind tastings, and each issue contains from 400 to more than 600 wine reviews with detailed tasting notes and analysis. In 1981, Wine Spectator launched its Restaurant Awards program, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The program reviews restaurant wine lists on three levels: the Award of Excellence, with 2,453 current winners; the Best of Award of Excellence, with 1,215 current winners; and the Grand Award, with 91 current winners.
