In researching nonprofits who needed our help, we found Women's Lunch Place (WLP) in Boston, and chose this shelter to donate our proceeds from each event. WLP provides a safe, comfortable daytime shelter, nutritious food, and support services for women experiencing homelessness or poverty. They treat women with dignity and respect, and foster a community dedicated to meeting each woman’s unique needs. WLP is equipped to support guests who fall through the cracks of social welfare and healthcare systems.
Demands for WLP’s services have grown rapidly in recent years. In fiscal year 2023 alone, WLP prepared and served 113,000+ meals, worked in concert with 250 women whose housing was in jeopardy to secure housing or prevent eviction, and provided free healthcare to over 1,000 women. Monday through Saturday, the staff at WLP and volunteers provide nutrition meals, hygienic essentials, specialized one-on-one advocacy services, free medical care, and a variety of creative opportunities for personal and professional growth. WLP delivers these services to approximately 250 women daily without judgment or requirements for assistance.
WINE held the first Nine & W.I.N.E. golf outing in 2009 with great success. Since then, we have hosted 14 spring Mother's Day card drive/networking receptions, and 13+ Nine & W.I.N.E. golf outings. W.I.N.E. has raised over $450,000 for Women’s Lunch Place.
The W.I.N.E. is a committee of 18 women from the insurance industry and a distribution list of 800+ women across New England! The group includes agents, brokers, primary insurance companies, wholesalers, reinsurers and risk managers. Our mission is to give back to the community through a network of women working in the insurance industry (and have some fun while doing both these things!).
We are excited to continue this journey and hope you will support our efforts to give back to the community and strengthen networking among our peers.
