WISTA Spain

Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) is an international organization for women in management/decision making positions involved in maritime transportation business and related trades worldwide. WISTA aims to be a major player in attracting more women to the industry and in supporting women in management positions. With networking, education and mentoring in focus we can enhance members’ competence and empower career success. WISTA Spain was established in March 2007. Since then it has experienced a rapid growth in its membership counting with ladies from the core business areas of the maritime sector, from companies such as ship owners, ship agents, brokers, lawyers, ITF inspectors, P&I correspondents, insurance, Ports, etc… WISTA Spain complies with her objectives through periodical meetings: facilitate the exchange of contacts, information and experiences among its members, promote and encourage education, improve skills of its members and provide a liaison with other related institutions and organisations. Our General Meeting is held once a year in a location where our members are established. Other gatherings are organized during the year. An International WISTA Conference is also held annually. Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is not easy. We need more women in top positions in the maritime industry.
