Welcome to Fort Liberty, North Carolina! One of the busiest military complexes worldwide, Fort Liberty is home to the legendary 82nd Airborne Division, the XVIII Airborne Corps, the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, the U.S. Army Forces Command, the U.S. Army Reserve Command and the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights. By population, Fort Liberty is the largest Army installation in the world, home to nearly 10 percent of the Army's active component forces. Womack Army Medical Center, a state-of-the-art medical complex, is an integral component of Fort Liberty's military mission. Womack Army Medical Center is dedicated to Medal of Honor recipient PFC Bryant Homer Womack, a courageous medic who gave his life tending to the wounds of his fellow soldiers, even though he, himself, had sustained mortal wounds during a surprise enemy attack in Korea in 1952.
