At a time when there was little interest in women entrepreneurs, Edith Dorsen and her team recognized the capital gap existing for female founders and launched the Women’s Venture Capital Fund-- driven by the belief that leadership diversity is a major competitive advantage. Incubated at a Harvard Business School reunion, Women’s Venture Capital Fund was the first VC fund in the country to focus on Series A stage companies in which senior leadership includes both women and men. Its successor, WomensVCFund ll remains 100% committed to funding companies with gender inclusive leadership. The Funds pursue a risk intelligent approach to venture -- investing only in Series A/B stage companies that have previously raised significant angel capital, developed their core technology, and are demonstrating revenue traction across Enterprise Software, EdTech and Consumer.
