Wool has the ability to purify indoor air helping improve air quality by the absorption of Volatile Organic Compounds -VOC's commonly found in our built environment that can be harmful to health.
Wool has the unique ability to manage moisture and humidity and can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water vapour before becoming wet to the touch and without compromising thermal performance which makes Sheep's wool insulation the recommended insulation by the UK & Welsh Govt for safe and effective retrofit of pre 1919 solid wall properties. Bio based insulation such as Sheep's Wool is also the preferred choice for the heritage & listed buildings sector due to the hygroscopic properties of the material.
Wool is naturally fire resistant up to temperatures of 1,040°F (560°C) and is a keratin based protein which means it does not support the growth of mould or mildew making it an excellent choice as home insulation.
