About Work Respect

In 2022 the Australian Government accepted all 55 recommendations from the Respect@Work Report as an outcome of the National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces. In recognition of the widespread nature of the issue across all workplaces and the mental and psychological damage being caused, together with the loss of productivity, the Australian Government passed the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022. One of the key changes in the amended Fair Work Act is that from 6th March 2023, sexual harassment in the workplace is prohibited. To help employers meet the new legislative requirements, the YWCA Canberra has designed the Work Respect program especially for Australian workplaces. Work Respect is a comprehensive, whole-of-organisation program that helps you meet your obligations as an employer to prevent and respond to workplace sexual harassment. Importantly, Work Respect supports you to build a genuine culture of respect, inclusion and gender equality. The program is based on the information in the Respect@Work report and amended legislation. We do more than train your workforce. We empower your HR team with guides, tools and policies and we embed cultural nudges to move the whole organisation forward.
