For centuries, young adults have been mobilized to defend and protect their nations through national military service.
Climate change, pandemics and technology have changed all that.
At World Climate Corps, we believe it is time to mobilize tens of millions of young adults worldwide who wish to defend and protect in another way—through global climate service—by working to stabilize the climate, build community, and gain the critical skill of global collaboration.
World Climate Corps will be a model for such a program.
Over five years, we will engage 20,000 young adult participants from all nations in overseas, team-based service. Those men and women will assist public, private and NGO entities worldwide to scale up the most effective climate solutions at hand, while also strengthening local communities in many ways.
Several dozen of us from around the world have come together to launch WCC. Many of us know each other from EarthCorps, the first global conservation corps, as founders 30 years ago and as corps members and staff since then.
