WSO was created in May 2010, organizing the first conference about Stevia, with its president Prof. Gerd Birkenmeier (Germany).
We were first looking for new strategies to prevent chronic diseases like obesity or diabetes. One of these was Stevia application in food and beverages. Our scientific and steering committee push to link together all people involve in Stevia at all levels: the WSO was born. Not only stevia is effective in the F&B industry, but it is applicable in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
