About WorldMUN Heidelberg
WorldMUN Heidelberg fosters knowledge of international relations with special focus on the United Nations. As student society at the University of Heidelberg, it is entirely self-managed, enabling students to gain considerable work experience through high-profile simulation competitions, demanding and further evolving skills in leadership, debate, fundraising, and training. We regularly participate as the University of Heidelberg's delegation to one of the largest and most demanding Model United Nations (MUN) simulations, the Harvard WorldMUN Conference. Since 2011, we organize an annual MUN simulation for 150-200 students, under the brand 'Heidelberg National MUN'. Besides winning numerous awards, the University of Heidelberg has so far been the only German University being honored to have been chosen as host for the Harvard World Model United Nations in 2003. We are looking for open-minded, politically and culturally interested students enrolled at the University of Heidelberg. In order to make WorldMUN available for all students, we do engage in extensive fundraising every year. Due to our experience gained over the years, we do not have to cover the conference costs entirely, but expect a contribution of around 500 Euro per delegate. We do not turn applicants away because they can't afford it. For us, it is clear that the opportunity to experience WorldMUN must not depend on a student's financial situation.
