World Vegetable Center - South and Central Asia

World Vegetable Center (#WorldVeg) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing #research and development in the realm of #vegetables. Our mission is to harness the potential of vegetables for healthier lives and more resilient livelihoods by collaborating with public and private sectors. We focus on diverse aspects of vegetable systems, including seeds, agricultural practices, post-harvest management and diets. Our projects aim to promote biodiversity, enhance climate adaptation, and improve resilience in communities. As a leader in agricultural science, we share our knowledge openly with decision-makers, scientists, and various stakeholders in the food system. Operating on principles of sustainability, we address root causes of issues like inequity, poverty, and malnutrition, through a comprehensive approach to vegetable-focused food systems. The impact of our work is evident in our globally significant genebank, improved crop varieties, and effective production and postharvest management systems. WorldVeg's efforts contribute to increased vegetable harvests, elevated incomes in rural and urban households, job creation, and provision of healthier, more nutritious diets. Headquartered in Taiwan, we operate through regional centers in India, Thailand Tanzania, Benin and, Mali, as well as country offices in other key countries.
