The West Virginia State Medical Association is a 501(c)6 Organization serving physicians throughout the state of West Virginia. Established in 1867, the WVSMA is a physician-based organization that oversees several component societies throughout the state. Membership consists of active physicians, retirees, residents, and student members. The current governance structure includes: House of Delegates – the legislative and policy-making body comprised of elective representatives. The Council – the Council oversees executive functions of the organization. The Executive Committee – this committee represents the leadership of the organization.
