ESTIA – Support & Social Care Center for People with Intellectual Disability

Established in 1982, ESTIA was among the first institutes in Greece to cater for people with intellectual disability of all ages and offer a holistic approach to their education, living and social acceptance. Today, ESTIA operates a Day Centre that offers daily training workshops to around 100 people. These workshops help them identify their strengths and develop new skills with the utmost goal to access employment. In addition, ESTIA operates four Supported-Living Houses, in which persons with intellectual disability can live an independent life, make their own decisions and thrive in a safe environment. ESTIA was founded by Mrs Effie Prokopaki who still chairs the Board of Governors and employs more than 50 employees on all specialties. Its headquarters and Day Centre are located in Neo Psychico, Attica, while the Houses can be found in Vrilissia, Pikermi, Neo Psychico and Melissia. ESTIA actively participates in a number of national or EU-funded programmes. However, it is through the support of individuals and companies that ESTIA can keep supporting the people with intellectual disability that rely on us for a life with dignity.
