Xobdo Foundation is a Queer women and Trans folx led organisation based in Assam. Xobdo, which means both words and sound in the Assamese language, aims at creating dialogue to uphold the dignity of all persons identifying as gender and sexual minority, thus creating a movement towards an equal society. Through the medium of discussions, film screenings, consultations, and panel discussions, Xobdo aims at breaking the taboos around LGBTQIA+ and create a safe space for the community.
The objective of Xobdo is to create dialogue between stakeholders to destigmatize the wrong perceptions about people belonging to marginalized gender and sexual identities, to restore dignity in the lives of the people belonging to marginalised gender and sexual identities and to create a queer activism movement in the local area and engage in the state, regional and national queer activism movement.
