Paradox

I am the flame that chills the air, A silent echo, everywhere. I race ahead yet stay behind, A mystery tangled in the mind. I build with hands that also break, A waking dream you can’t unmake. I stand in light, yet cast no shade, A truth both whole and unarrayed. What am I?
