YRMS was launched in 2003 by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, the Sultan of Selangor based on Tuanku’s concerns: the growing number of unemployed youth being left behind; the many have hidden talents that could be potentially nurtured; the need to provide tailored opportunities to enable non-academically inclined youths to realize their potential. This is in line to generating skilled human capitals that can participate in the growth and development of Malaysia as a nation.
Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Amir Shah, the Raja Muda of Selangor took over as Royal Patron in 2017 to carry on the vision and mission.
Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor offers scholarships to underprivileged youths between 16 to 30 years old. This opportunity is open to all Malaysian citizens in the country, of all races and religion.
