Your Consultation Group (YCG) is a social enterprise group of companies whose objectives are to reintegrate prisoners into society and reduce rates of reoffending. We achieve this with a fully integrated Engagement, Education, Training, Employment and Accommodation (EETEA) model for reducing reoffending. Each element is conducted by a separate delivery company and a bespoke management team of professionals and prison leavers. We were set up as a Prisoner-Led-Initiative (PLI) at HMP Oakwood in 2015 to assist stakeholders with their rights and responsibilities in prison. The social enterprise Your Consultation Group Community Interest Company (YCG Trust) is the essential umbrella service which underpins YCG’s EETEA strategy and is the engagement element of the service. YCG offers serving prisoners the opportunity to become YCG Citizens™ and have partnered with the Chrysalis Foundation to work towards making world-class critical thinking skills available to prisoners in cell. Education and training for work is essential for reintegration into society. The online digital platform YCG Academy www.ycgacademy.co.uk has developed is designed to provide in-cell self-paced, modular learning. Delivering employer-specific training materials and NVQs and Apprenticeships. This is supplemented by vocational training in workshops and on Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) at the employer’s place of work. YCG Pathways www.ycgpathways.co.uk delivers a managed service matching the training needs of employers and serving prisoners which allows serving prisoners to upskill in the knowledge they will receive the guarantee of an offer of employment on release. YCG Citizens’ who upskill via YCG’s Pathways™ Programme are paid by us for having successfully upskilled. By securing or guaranteeing employment, prisoners can afford decent accommodation on release.
