The seasonal aspects of Arctic warming are the focus of the new research project YESSS - Year-round EcoSystem Study on Svalbard. The team of around 30 people observes the life cycles, foraging and hibernation of selected key species all year round around the AWIPEV station on Svalbard and conducts experiments. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the project, which is coordinated by the Alfred Wegener Institute, with 2.7 million euros till December 2026.
