Young Persons' Guide to the Future - ypgf Overview

The Young Persons’ Guide to the Future is a student initiative fostering mutual learning for a sustainable and peaceful world. Learning in teams across disciplines, we explore how to redesign societal practices aligned with the dynamics of life on Earth. By envisioning a world inspired by emerging alternatives and indigenous wisdom, we empower young people to write their own travel guide to the future. A travel guide does not tell us what we must or will experience in the future, but shows us what the world can be like if we know how to orient ourselves responsibly in the Anthropocene. The future is not written, we can write it! Higher education teaches us the knowledge of the past. However, now that the solutions of the past are undermining our chances of survival, we need an additional learning pathway, empowering us to be custodians of life and take responsibility for our future. What the professors teach us is valuable, but it is not enough. So we reclaim education and add a broad, systemic, and visionary lens to the narrow lens of the disciplines. We need bifocal glasses. And we ask higher education institutions to recognise, valorize and support our learner-driven pedagogy. Please feel welcome to join the movement.
