Acheiving YBW’s continued mission of “Advancing Black Widow(er)s Mental Health Worldwide” is executed through the executive direction and volunteer management of peer grief support groups, global resource connections and many more programs listed below. Our efforts were recognized by earning our “Seal of Platinum Transparency” through Candid GuideStar. 📊 Metrics, initiatives and outcomes: • Provided 33,630 total volunteer 💪🏽 service hours. • Completed ❤️🩹 2,334 peer grief support groups, equaling 3,186 hours of peer grief support. • Answered ☎️ 2,836 calls on our daily support line, with 77 calls for crisis intervention support. • Received 👩🏽💻 feedback that all 3,000+ widow(er)s expressed having a greater sense of well-being and feeling of connectedness. • Awarded 👩🏽🎓 2 bi-annual “Matthew Holt Redmond International Memorial Scholarships” to widow(er) parents returning to university. • Facilitated 👧🏾👦🏽 ‘Children of the Widowed’ Play Dates for 103 Children, which included pet therapy 🐶 from certified Love On A Leash Scenic City Therapy Pets. • Contributed to the book 📚 “Widowed Parents Unite” by Jenny Doman Lisk of the Widowed Parent Institute. • Spoke 🎤 at various international conferences including Soaring Spirits International’s Camp Widow. • Initiated 🧠 the “International Black Widow(er)s Mental Health Alliance” and has begun to award leaders worldwide. • Earned🏅the ‘NAACP Ruby Hurley Image Award’ for Community Activism. • Earned 🏅the highest level of nonprofit transparency, platinum, from Candid GuideStar.
