Younger Labs approach UI design projects from a scientific perspective utilising both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to create provably effective designs. Techniques utilised include retrospective think-aloud protocol (eye-tracking), concurrent think-aloud protocol, the System Usability Scale (SUS), Wizard of Oz technique, and hallway-intercept testing. Analysis techniques include ANOVA analysis, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Pearson’s Chi Square Test for quantitative data and thematic analysis, coding, grouping topologies, and keyword analysis for qualitative data. A combination of empirical data and original research is used to ascertain the best approach for any particular project. A robust research methodology including a sound hypothesis provides the reassurance that your user interface provides a provably effective experience for your end-users.
