The Youth Development Instrument (YDI) is a self-report questionnaire developed by researchers at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control to learn about the health and well-being of young people aged 16-17 in British Columbia. The YDI collects population-level youth development data that can be used to identify individual and contextual resources, opportunities, and practices that foster or hinder positive youth development. This data is used to better understand the developmental trends of early adolescent youth and helps inform youth-centered policies, programs, and practices.
