تأسست جمعية بيوت الشباب الليبية في 1973/2/13 وتضم الجمعية في عضويتها الآن أكثر من 10,000 منتسب و 55 بيت شباب منتشرة في كل ربوع ليبيا, تعمل جمعية بيوت الشباب في مجال رعاية الشباب وتختص بتوفير الاقامة الصحية والآمنة لمنتسبيها وروادها والمجموعات السياحية التي تزور ليبيا, والتشجيع على السفر والترحال والسياحة الداخلية والخارجية لتوفير فرص اللقاء بين الشباب العالمي للتعارف وتكوين الصدقات والتعرف على ثقافات العالم الاخر, والتعريف بالموروث الثقافي الليبي والمساهمة في الأعمال التطوعية والإجتماعية تجاه المجتمع
