About Youth Participatory Forum - UG
This is an initiative to gather students at the tertiary level from all disciplines in the various universities across the country. It is to be a convergence platform of brilliant minds, who are going to be coached and trained to utilise their knowledge to further the vision of budget literacy, transparency and accountability and so forth. Candidates will be given opportunities to present their work and research at stakeholder meetings and programs, including model parliaments which will all give candidates experience with coming up with useful, effective solutions to problems plaguing Ghana in the public finance and budget literacy space, as well as exposure and networking benefits. This project is geared towards empowering the youth, by educating them about national and local budgetary allocations for their development. The initiative seeks to tap into the youthful energy for activism, checking corruption, and improving community-level development. An informed observation that has been made is that the voice of the youth seems to be missing in the dialogue regarding the national budget and its attendant discussions and the project aims to correct that by creating avenues for direct interface between the youth and public finance data contained within the national budget.
