YRDSBChess

The York Region District School Board Chess Tournament (YRDSBChess for short) is an event which promotes the game of chess, while engaging participants in a day of competition, fun, and learning. We offer students an opportunity from across the school board to show off their talent, hard-work, and dedication that they've put into chess and share it with others alike. Participants gain opportunities to display their competitive skills for a change to win prizes and gain valuable tournament experience. Additionally, YRDSBChess is an opportunity to network and socialize with other experts within the field of chess. We project around 100 participants every year. Funds go directly back into the event through transportation, refreshments, advertisements, and equipment. In it's founding year, 7 team members alone were able to collaborate and execute the project.
