Yuganter, “a cause neutral and community-centric organization,” seeks to build resilient communities through disaster risk reduction and generating numerous livelihood options for the people of Bihar. The ‘disaster champion’ has been extending its crucial support to the Bihar government in mitigating the calamity for over a decade.
Established as a Trust under the Indian Trust Registration Act, 1882 on October 22, 2010, at Patna, Yuganter has expertise in disaster management, skill development, imparting vocational education, ensuring healthy life of women and children, addressing SRH issues, capacity building of differently-abled and fulfilling their special needs, community development, women empowerment, livelihood generation, etc for building Resilient Communities.
In order to achieve the targets enshrined in the Bihar Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Roadmap 2015-30, it is committed to facilitating resilient villages, resilient cities, resilient infrastructure, resilient services and resilient livelihood to the disaster-hit communities.
Yuganter is the secretariat of Bihar Inter Agency Group (BIAG) which is a coordination platform of NGOs and UN agencies working in the fields of disaster management, sustainable development, etc in the state. Adding another feather to its cap, Yuganter has the privilege of being a selected member of UK-based Start Network comprising over 50 humanitarian agencies spreading across five continents.
