YWED Organization

Youth and Women Engaged for Development as its acronym "YWED", is a Refugee Led Organization registered and operating in Kyaka 2 settlement, Uganda. YWED was founded in 2019 with a great mission of empowering vulnerable women and youth at large for social and economic development and strengthening SRHR communication and services for young girls, boys and women. We envision to live in " a society where all women, youth and adolescents are developed and aware of their values, dignity and rights". We aim at reducing teenage pregnancy, HIV, SGBV, STIs, Child marriages among refugee adolescent girls, boys and women to attain a healthy young population that can effectively participate in social-economic transformation in refugee and host community. Our target participants: - Adolescents and teenage girls aged 13-19. - teenage boys aged 13 to 19. - Youth and Women aged 19-30. Our first role is to create awareness among the community members on GBV prevention and response, SRHR education, Child Protection and Environmental Conservation in our community. Other activities done by YWED are: -Training the Youths in carpentry, training girls, boys and women in tailoring and painting. - Agriculture and Farming - Environmental conservation - Village Savings and Loaning Association (VSLA) YWED empowers women, girls and Youth with employable vocational skills to sustain their lives through job creation. YWED works with different backgrounds of people as we are advocating for the inclusion to eliminate inequalities and foster gender equality. Focus Areas: (SGDs) Education, Gender Equality, Climate Action, Zero Hunger, No poverty, Reduced Inequalities and WASH.
