Zama Ora

Zama Ora is a sustainable eco-tourism and agroforestry project in Zaghouan, Tunisia, designed to integrate environmental preservation, local development, and innovation. It combines eco-lodging, wellness services, and the transformation of local natural resources to create a regenerative model for rural areas. Powered entirely by renewable energy, the project features eco-friendly water systems, including greywater recycling, and utilizes a natural sulfur spring for wellness treatments. Bamboo cultivation enhances soil quality, moisture retention, and climate resilience, while bamboo waste is repurposed as natural thermal insulation. Zama Ora adds value to underutilized forest products such as rosemary oil, oak seed oil, hackberry seed oil, and pine resin. Beekeeping is a key activity, with hives insulated using bamboo waste—a sustainable alternative to conventional materials. The project holds six unpublished patents related to environmental technologies and product transformation. Guests experience a nature-immersed stay with eco-lodging, a local food restaurant, café, and wellness center offering spa and massage services. The environment promotes relaxation, health, and a deep connection with nature. Zama Ora supports local employment with training programs for youth in beekeeping, reforestation, and natural product development, empowering the community and contributing to the circular economy. Zama Ora is not just a destination—it’s a blueprint for green entrepreneurship in North Africa, demonstrating how sustainability, innovation, and community can thrive together.
