About Zoran Djindjic Internship Programme of German Business
The Internship Programme of German Business connects Germany and the Western Balkans by offering 65 annual internship opportunities for students and young graduates from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. Hosted by leading German companies, the Programme provides participants with opportunities to apply their academic expertise, gain practical experience, and experience best management practices within an innovative work environment. After completing their three-to-six-month internships, the participants return to their home countries equipped with valuable knowledge and skills. They become part of our alumni network and together they apply what they have learned to strengthen local industries, enhance competitiveness, foster regional cooperation, and unlock economic potential. Partner companies benefit from access to a pool of exceptional talents with strong academic foundations. The Programme supports companies in identifying the right professionals, while also providing comprehensive organisational and logistical preparation. Scholarship holders bring fresh ideas, unique insights, and a proactive, motivated approach that contributes to business growth and innovation. Through the support of more than 260 partner companies, the Programme actively promotes brain gain by encouraging the return of expertise to the region, sparking economic and social progress. It has created more than 1,060 alumni success stories, showcasing the transformative potential of collaboration between Germany and the Western Balkans. For more than 21 years, the Internship Programme of German Business is a flagship project of German business and the Federal Government of Germany. The Internship Programme of German Business was initiated after the assassination of Zoran Djindjic in 2003 in a joint initiative by the German Eastern Business Association (OA) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
