Join us in Asheville, North Carolina, on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 for Zipping for Autism—the 9th annual Zipping for Autism event! Prestige Subaru is returning as title sponsor this year. We invite you and your business or organization to become part of the fun and support a fantastic cause by participating with a team or becoming a sponsor. At Zipping for Autism, businesses, organizations, individuals and community groups come together to raise money to support autistic people and programs in North Carolina, all as part of a fun day celebrating the autism community. Two excellent nonprofits that offer services and supports for autistic people will be the 2020 event’s beneficiaries: Camp Lakey Gap and Liberty Corner Enterprises, Inc. Founded in 2010 in Black Mountain, N.C., Camp Lakey Gap offers programs and summer camp to support autistic children and adults. Liberty Corner Enterprises has provided community-living, group-home, and employment supports to autistic and other intellectually disabled adults in N.C. since 1987. Zipping for Autism was created in 2012 by Jeff and Sheena Greiner, owners of the Adventure Center of Asheville, in honor of their son O’Reilly Greiner. The event has raised more than $250,000 in its first eight years. All money raised by individuals and teams—100%—is used to support autistic children, autistic adults, and families through North Carolina organizations. Autism is a developmental disability that affects a person’s communication, behavior, and ability to interpret and interact with the world. In N.C., one child out of every 58 is autistic. The need for effective, inclusive supports for autistic children and adults in our community continues to grow, as does the need for greater autism acceptance and joy!
