About Zion.SPACE

Israel needs new and bold space entrepreneurs and engineers. Therefore, Zion.SPACE was founded in 2020 with the goal of launching a science self-designed rocket that has the ability to reach space - in order to inspire young Israeli people to pursue education in science, engineering, and math, which will benefit Israel and society (even if they don't all wind up as rocket scientists). Armed with determination and the goal of putting a fully design-from-scratch rocket into space, The Zion.SPACE Association aims to be Israel’s first civilian organization to successfully launch and recover an entirely society-designed and self-built rocket (Zion-1), which will pass the Karman line, the recognized boundary of space at 100 km (331,000 ft). Deadline for the first mission: Q2 of 2025, claiming the record for the highest altitude ever reached by a civilian organization built and designed vehicle, in all of Israel and the Middle East. Until now, the only space launch from Israeli soil is by the government’s Shavit and takes place, for security, under the cloak of secrecy. Far from the eyes and from the minds of the average Israelis. Hence, Association’s current space-shot-rocket vehicle is Zion-1 - which is going to inspire and be launched from the Negev Desert, in front of the eyes and minds of Israel’s future generation of engineers and dreamers. In addition, Zion.SPACE aims to provide the Israeli public the opportunity to apply knowledge taught in Associations' lectures and seminars, to a space shot rocket project with both tangible challenges and tangible results. Across all engineering disciplines, we as an association, have made incredible advances in the fields of solid and hybrid propellants, composite structures, on-board flight computers and embedded software, high altitude recovery, thermal protection and avionics systems.
