With the ZKSD, the four sponsoring institutions – the University of Zurich, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, the Zurich University of Teacher Education and the Zurich University of the Arts – have created a hub for sustainability projects together with the Hamasil Foundation, which helps to bridge the gap between knowledge and committed action. The ZKSD promotes the exchange of ideas among researchers, lecturers and students from the four universities, as well as the general public, in the field of sustainable development.
With its work in driving forward the Agenda 2030 and the 17 SDGs, the ZKSD wants to act as physical and virtual meeting place, promoting informal communication between its members and dialogue with the public across the boundaries of disciplines and universities. Under the umbrella of the ZKSD, the universities want to explore and develop solution-oriented strategies for the challenges of sustainability together with actors from science, education, civil society, business, politics, and the arts.
The ZKSD also offers a home to the sustainability-related projects and initiatives of its members.
