Zorig Foundation was established after the assassination of Zorig Sanjaasuren in October of 1998 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization by close friends, colleagues, and family members of Zorig. Zorig was the leader of Mongolia's democratic revolution of 1990. The principal objectives of the Foundation include: spreading democratic values in Mongolian society; strengthening human rights, political freedoms, and social justice; and improving the system of transparency and accountability of the state and government to the public. In order to meet these objectives, the Zorig Foundation concentrates its programs in three areas: Youth and Education, Good Governance, and Community Development.
