Zostera-Marina

Zostera-Marina is a start-up company founded by inventor Morten Thomsen - The company vision is to use automation and mechanical technology to help our oceans to regain its lost areas of eelgrass (Zostera Marina). M. Thomsen has developed at new method/system and technology that allow the replanting proces to be automated for large scale under water planting. The new method is designed to carry and handle both eelgrass plants and seed. The method is patent pending and called a CARIPS wich is the aconym for Cover Anchor Root Insertion & Protection System. By using the CARIP-System for transplanting eelgrass combined with upscaling the mechanical technology, will allow a special designed vessel to automatically plant both seedlings and seeds with a planting capacity of 100 hectars per year at a water depth down to 12 meters. The method and technology has been testet and shows that the plant has a positive survival and growth rate up to five times compared to existing transplanting methods.
