zPoints is a Canadian green-tech company headquartered in Metro Vancouver, BC. We design and manufacture the tiny wireless computers in Smart Devices, and we develop the embedded, network, and applications software for applying these inexpensive computers.
This technology is applied for deep (80%) energy savings from lighting retrofits in commercial/industrial buildings, by combining the the most energy-efficient dimmable ballasts on the market with wireless controls and various sensors. The result is a two-way system: schedules and control in, detailed data out. zPoints greatly improves a lighting energy retrofit in three ways:
1. lighting fixtures become "smart" and the lights become the most energy-efficient lighting system available.
2. more sensors provide more scope for optimization, far beyond what can be done with one central computer.
3. no control wires means low-cost installation.
Lowinstall cost, and high energy savings, means fast payback time: presently 18 months, our target is 1 year.
