About Zzapp Malaria

Zzapp Malaria is a developer of technological tools for malaria elimination, based in Tel Aviv. Malaria eradication has been a century-long ambition for humanity. Despite recurrent efforts, malaria continues to be a major cause of child mortality and to present a huge impediment to Africa's development. Past attempts to eliminate malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa have failed to overcome the operational challenges involved. Today, the emerging availability of smartphones in the region presents new opportunities. Zzapp harnesses innovative mobile technologies to help anti-malaria campaigns increase the coverage of interventions. Our mobile apps use geolocation and an intuitive design to help field workers and managers keep track progress and ensure every house and breeding site is treated against the malaria transmitting mosquito. Zzapp is currently developing an intervention planning tool that will combine data collected through the apps with environmental and population data and satellite imagery to customize intervention strategies to individual communities.
