Echo (Ἡχῶ in Greek) : the mythological nymph that lost her voice and her intimate expression. It is the metaphorical figure and explanation of the acoustic phenomenon. ēkhô : ἠχῶ written in phonetic alphabet, stating the acoustic sense and the origin of the word echo. ēkhô, as brand, is linked with the senses of reflection and transportation and is intended to connect metaphorically with the past. The idea of the project is based on the intention of re-approaching wine territories of historical significance and restate their expression through the vinification of selected plots. These areas have strong bonds with vine growing and wine production, through the centuries and in most cases, produced wines that were renowned in ancient times. The historical connection is the link element, while the old, ungrafted vines, of both known and unknown varieties, are the core of this transportation to our days through a contemporary approach. Heroic viticulture is the key element of the selected plots as it concerns mainly isolated plots, difficult to approach and cultivate them. The passion of the vine-growers is the main reason that these single vineyards are still existing and producing a rare and low-yield fruit. One of the principal purposes is to secure and regenerate the old vineyards through a stable collaboration with the growers and create strong bonds with each land. It concerns a highlighting journey to the depth of Greek vineyard and its multiple characters, trying to showcase untold wine stories and rephrasing lost voices!
