Echo Moskvy and its website, http://echo.msk.ru, were shut down on March 1, 2022 by the order of the office of the Prosecutor-General of Russia following Russia’s invasion into Ukraine. The remaining team started a new project, Echo, which features a website, a YouTube channel, and a range of socials.
Formerly: Russia's biggest independent radio station covering politics, economics, culture and public life in Russia and abroad. Founded during the perestroika, Echo became the first media outlet to cover the political turmoil of 1991, and later evolved from a tiny studio with few employees into a large for-profit company. Today, Echo of Moscow is not only a 24/7 radio, but also a flourishing news-opinion-discussion internet portal, and is present in all major social networks.
Daily audience - over 1 million listeners, 1+ million unique website visitors. Potential audience - about 46 million.
