Suzhou City University (SCU) is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and is administered by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, organized by the Suzhou Municipal People's Government, and supported by Soochow University. Suzhou City University is an undergraduate public university and one of the first green colleges in Jiangsu Province. in December 1998, the predecessor of the college, Wenzheng College of Soochow University, was established, and the name of the college, "Wenzheng", was taken from the posthumous name of Fan Zhongyan. In 2003, the library of the college was awarded the Excellence Prize of China Architecture Art Award in the category of public architecture, and in 2005, the college was authorized to become an independent college. In 2006, the college was officially transformed from a private secondary college to an independent college, and in December 2020, Wenzheng College of Soochow University was transformed into Suzhou City College, which became an independent undergraduate level public ordinary college of higher education under the administration of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province.
Suzhou City University (SCU) adheres to the philosophy of "local, application-oriented, open and characteristic", and strives to create a first-class high-level applied university in China. The university is located in Suzhou International Education Park in the southwestern part of the ancient city of Suzhou, adjacent to the national Taihu Lake Scenic Spot, with a beautiful natural environment and rich historical and humanistic resources, and has been awarded the first batch of "Green Schools (Colleges and Universities) in Jiangsu Province" in 2022. The school library is located on the shore of Cuiwei Lake, which is one of the masterpieces of Wang Shu, the winner of the Pritzker Prize, the Nobel Prize in Architecture, and was awarded the Excellence Prize of China Architecture and Art Award for Public Buildings in 2003.
