(주)무지는 무인양품이라고 불리기도 한다. 회장 및 대표 최수현은 직원들을 10명에서 50명까지 뽑았는데 자신은 할 일이 전혀 없었다고 한다. 사실 다이소라는 이름의 문구용품 사업자 등록증을 먼저 등록하고 받고 나서 무지 사무실을 오픈했는데 무지는 처음부터 가구 디자인 회사로 시작하고 가구를 팔기 위한 웹사이트를 본인 회장 최수현이 만들고 직원들 말을 잘 들어주니 저절로 회사가 직원들에 의해 경영되게 만들었다. 가구가 잘 팔려서 대표 본인도 의아했는데 대부분 해외 제품으로 팔려나간다는 사실에 조금 책임감이 무거워졌다. 직원들이 일을 잘하고 열심히 하는 편이어서 나라에 이바지 하고픈 마음까지 생겼고 무지는 무인양품이다 라는 혼잣말을 하고 다녔다. 가구 디자인회사에서 사무용품 및 생필품 디자인까지 직원들에게 맡겼고 많은 디자인을 하였고 다이소도 후계사업및 회사로 자리잡게 생각할 수 있게 되었다. 사무용품과 문구용품은 경계가 없었지만 다이소는 아이들이 살수 있는 문구용품으로 무지(무인양품)은 가구및 사무용품으로 한국에서 대표적인 회사로 자리잡을수 있도록 최대한의 노력을 했다.
