For one thing, damage has a temporal effect, possibly over a period of hundreds of years. On the other hand, damage has a multidimensional effect. For example, plastic can damage the health of children when it is burnt in landfills, later harm animals in rivers or oceans, and finally be deposited in human organs through ingestion and cause diseases there. We refer to the full extent of damage to humans and nature as the eco-social impact.
