AKEISTHAI research project aims to develop modern multi-functional mortars and grouts for the conservation/restoration, structural strengthening and monitoring of the mechanical stresses applied on the load-bearing structures, in the architectural monuments and traditional buildings. The project is implemented through three parallel innovative actions: - development of innovative restoration mortars with self-healing ability, by incorporating encapsulated core/shell-type active additives. - incorporation - for the first time in restoration mortars - of functional C-nanostructures (CF, CNTs, GnPs, rGOx), aiming to develop self-sensing mortars, reinforced at the nano-scale, able to monitor mechanical stresses, cracks and damage in their microstructure. - development of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on cement and pozzolan particles. AKEISTHAI is co-financed by the European Union and Greece through the Operational Program Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE (AKEISTHAI – Self-healing and self-sensing nano-composite conservation mortars), MIS 5031866 (Τ1ΕΔΚ -03069).
