AWiDH is on a mission to improve the policy, capacity, and investment landscape so that African women can better participate and lead in the digital health sector. We strive to increase women's representation and leadership in the digital health space.
We do this by:
• Supporting the development and implementation of national policies, strategies and action plans on digital health through a gender lens.
• Promoting and developing capacity-building programs for women in digital health, including partnerships and mentorships.
• Building an online community to strengthen capacity and promote knowledge management and sharing to strengthen the voices of African women in digital health.
• Investing in African women in digital health by providing direct grants to help kickstart their businesses.
AWiDH is an initiative of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) Digital Transformation Strategy. A dedicated working group composed of partner organizations provides advisory support for its implementation, ensuring all outputs are validated and aligned with the stakeholders' collective vision and goals.
Working Group Members are: The ECOWAS Gender Development Center (EGDC), The International Digital Health and AI Research Collaborative (I-DAIR), IMMAP, Intra Health, John Snow Inc SI/CHISU, PATH, OpenHIE (OpenHealth Information Exchange), Mastercard Foundation, Novartis, PSI, Quala, Regenstrief, Resolve to Save the lives, Rwanda Events, Ministry of Health and Social Action (Senegal), Speak Up Africa, The Common Project, The Global Fund, Transform Health, UNICEF, USAID, Village Reach, Neosave Technologies Limited, Umubyeyi Elevate and the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFPMSA).
Under the leadership of the African Union and Africa CDC, Speak Up Africa leads the AWiDH mentorship program, which is funded by Resolve to Save Lives.
