Penn Lions is the Philadelphia region’s premier collegiate lion dance troupe specializing in Hok San style of lion dancing. Comprised of University of Pennsylvania students, our mission is to learn, teach and perform the traditional art of lion dance!
Penn Lions was founded in 2007 by several Penn students who saw a need to share the rich culture of lion dance with their local community. Since our humble beginnings, our troupe has steadily increased in membership and risen in popularity. We perform year round for a variety of events and occasions including Lunar New Year celebrations, weddings, restaurant openings and corporate events. Past clients have included NBC Universal, CBS News, Philadelphia Mayer Nutter, Delaware Senators, YingLi Solar, Bryn Mawr College, Temple University, Villanova University, Sangkee Restaurants, EY, Spark Therapeutics, Walk to End Alzheimer's, and more.
