She has a master’s in International Development, a diploma in Environmental Management, and is a practitioner member of IEMA, the UK body for suitability professionals. She works as an advisor to the media industry on low carbon methodologies as well as working on a PhD which addresses emissions organisational transitions in the UK advertising sector.
Rachel Smy co-founded Clima and worked with the team until summer 2024 when she went to work in-house full time at an agency. Rachel has 25 years’ experience in the communications and media industry and is a specialist in Environmental Management Systems and compliance including ISO14001. For twelve years’ she implemented and created the Environmental Management System (audited to ISO14001:2015) across 6 Ogilvy Group/WPP companies: Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Ogilvy One, H&O, Neo@Ogilvy, Ogilvy PR, Coley Porter Bell & GTB.
