CONTINUUM is an international and long-term visionary research project in art, design, new technologies and science. It offers a kind of observatory for our pandemic, climate and war crises. The project creates a new space of thought – a melting pot of reflections and associations – bringing together different disciplines and research lines. Its aim is to unite thinkers, philosophers, scientists, designers and artists driven by today’s critical global context and provoke a global and transdisciplinary brainstorming on the paradigm of the Anthropocene, based on uncertainty and growing complexity. The goal is not only to critique the negative aspects of human impact on the planet but also to propose new methods for noninvasively transforming nature and learning how to live in the near future. CONTINUUM differs from conventional art/science collaborations. It seeks to establish new configurations through the connection of ethical, epistemological, aesthetic and ecosystemic approaches. It acknowledges the need for modelling and predicting global impacts, encouraging symbolic experimentation and visionary thinking. The project is jointly developed by three partners: – XLAB (Czech Republic) – with years of experience in organising symposia, exhibitions and conferences in the field of new technologies, science and artistic creation, in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the National Theatre in Prague. – ARTos Foundation (Cyprus) – focused on exhibitions, performances, artist residencies, contemporary art festivals, practical workshops and art/science colloquia. – EIC – European Institute of Chornobyl (Ukraine) – an organisation with a strong activist voice in contemporary art and environmental issues, especially in the context of war. Together, these partners form a transdisciplinary alliance committed to building a permanent observatory – one that reimagines sustainability, innovation, and creative resilience on a global scale.
