The time-honored Peter Drucker axiom, "What gets measured gets managed" fully explains why we're losing the battle against heart disease: Neither physicians nor consumers at-risk for heart disease and stroke can serially track changes in the health of their arteries—where the earliest signs of cardiovascular (CV) disease occur. Without a simple, non-invasive tool in the office or home to measure arterial health, both doctors and consumers today are flying blind when it comes to managing CV risk. Neither have the tool they need to detect CV risk at the earliest stage possible and/or know what lifestyle or therapeutic interventions actually reduce their cardiovascular risk at the individual level.
As a result, both doctors and consumers are taking leaps of faith that the cholesterol, blood pressure (BP) or blood sugar-lowering medications they take or the lifestyle changes they painstakingly make, like weight loss, diet, and exercise actually improve their vascular health in a way that substantially reduces their CV risk. More recently, blockbuster GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic are known to improve the metric that we are measuring, potentially giving prescribers a tool to serially measure changes in vascular health as a drug response and get paid for performing this measurement.
Cordex has designed, patented, prototyped, and tested, in over 700 patients, a smart BP cuff, known as the SmartCuff TM, that measures the earliest warning sign of arterial disease--the loss of vascular compliance known as endothelial dysfunction (ED). The only way to take a direct measurement of ED is using invasive cardiac catheterization. Using the operating platform of a BP cuff, our SAAS technology can perform this measurement by biohacking a human pulse at 200 data points/second during a quick, simple 6-minute test with a device that acts in the same manner as an automated blood pressure cuff. Cordex holds 32 patents in 17 countries.
